I chose this sea creature because we are clowns and we like fishes. It was fun making this slideshow.

Solving multiplication problems with a 2 and 3 digit numbers

My Reflection

I  am learning to solve  multiplication problems with a 2 and 3 digit numbers.  I was able to use multiplication fact knowledge. I found this tricky easy because I did it without the zeros then added the zeros after I did the problem. My next step is to do this with 4 and 5 digit numbers.

DASH writing

 

My Reflection

I am learning to write a DASH paragraph.  I was able to write all the things that stand for the letters.  I found this tricky because we didn't have much ideas but then we got some ideas.  My next step is to write a whole story using dash.

Making Connections

My Reflection

I am learning to make connections. I was able to connect one idea from the song to the book fish in the tree. I found this easy because the song described Ally. My next step is to make connections to other characters in the story.

Fred The Avocado- 6 Sentence Story

My Reflection

I am learning to write a 6 sentence story.  I 

was able to use more adjectives in my story.  I found this easy because I already had some ideas. My next step is to write a 4 sentence story.

I am learning to identify the structural features of a narrative. I was able to find the main plot. I found this easy because it was easy to find the main points in the story.  My next step is to find better reasons in the story.

Tell me the time

My Reflection

I am learning to tell the time.  I was able to move the hour and minute hand to show the correct time. I found this easy because I know how to tell the time with clocks.  My next step is to tell the time with word problems.

I am learning to make a prediction based on the cover and the blurb. I was able to find the main events in the blurb and cover. I found this tricky because when it said what does fish in a tree mean i didn't really know. My next step is to practise summarising more.

My Reflection

I am learning to actively seek extend my knowledge of new vocabulary.  I was able to identify unknown words,try to work out the meaning of the word from the rest of the sentence, or the root word and use a dictionary to look up and record the meaning of a new word. I found this easy because I've seen these words before.  My next step is to find more words I don't know and use this chart.

Retelling a Story By Finding and Summarising the Main Events

I am learn to summarise the main events. I was able to tell the main parts of the story. I found this tricky because it was hard to find the main events but in the end I found them. My next step is to find better details in the story.

Why you should walk to school

We have been learning to write a persuasive speech. I was able to write some interesting facts and a riddle. I found this easy because there were a lot of facts about walking to school on google. My next step is to write a longer and better speech.

Fraction Number Lines.

My Reflection

We are learning to place fractions in order of size.  I was able to find where they go.  I found this tricky because i've never done this before.  My next step is to try something harder.

I am learning to make word clines.  I was able to find which is the smallest and what is the biggest.  I found this easy because the words that I didn't know the meaning of I searched them up then found the meaning.  My next step is to get harder words to put in order.

I am learning to recognise equivalent fractions.  I was able to find the equivalent fractions.  I found this easy because there was a picture to help me find the equivalent fractions.  My next step is to learn to do this without a picture.

I am learning to relate to the characters in the text to understand their purpose.  I was able to think of some more ideas about Stanley Yelnats.  I found this tricky because it was hard to find what Stanley was in the family.  My next step is to think of more adjectives to describing words for characters.

Understanding Multiplication Word Problems

I am learning to understand multiplication word problems.  I was able to know the same number in each group.  I found this easy because we have been practicing in the class room.  My next step is to understand division word problems.

Character Inferencing

I am learning to inference and justify characters.  I was able to find facts, quotes, actions and getting inside the characters head.  I found this tricky because finding actions were hard because in the story so far Zero doesn't do much actions.  My next step is to put speech marks in the quotes.

Rounding and compensating

I am learning to round and compensate.  I was able to do the right strategy.  I found this easy because i've been practicing the strategy.  My next step is to find more strategy's to do.

I am learning to  explain my personal response to the text and selected experience.  I was able to think of some good ideas. I found this easy because I knew some of the answers.  My next step is to get harder questions 

Easter Weekend Recount

I am learning to write a recount.  I was able to use lots of punctuation in the right place.  I found this easy because  I knew where the punctuation went and knew how to spell words.  My next step is to write even bigger recounts about more interesting stuff.

My Reflection

I am learning to summarise information.  I was able to find the main ideas in a text.  I found this tricky because didn't really know much about my pacific planet.  My next step is to get better at summarising information.

Statistics Investigation

I was learning to make a graph on google sheets.  

To make the graph we collected data by asking all the students what they like the best out of the options.  Google sheets made it a lot easier other then drawing the graph.

  

Kennings Poem

Reflection

I am learning to write a kennings poem.  I was able to think of what I am so I can write a kennings poem.  I found this easy because I know myself so well. My next step is to get more ideas so I can write a kennings poem even bigger.

I am learning to make a prediction based on the cover of the blurb.We had to say what the same things were on the cover. I found this easy because the key words and all the other stuff was easy too.My next step is to get more harder stuff. 

Welcome Post 2018

Welcome to my learning blog for year 5 in 2018.  This year I am in room 22.  My teacher is Miss D,Souza.  I enjoy maths, doing fun outdoor stuff and art.  My goal for this year is learn new stuff.  I am looking forward to be doing drama and science this year.  I hope you enjoy my blog and leave some feedback for me.
